Princess Leia Had a Rough, Crazy Life

So I always get Carrie Fisher (Star Wars) and Margot Kidder (Superman) confused for some reason. Not that they really look alike but they are both babes from movies in my early childhood so perhaps I’ve just got some memory issues.
Apparently, so does Carrie Fisher.
She starts her one woman show, Wishful Drinking, by mentioning [...]

Remembering 9/11 and Firefighters Lost

Its hard to believe that it has been seven years since 9/11. You don’t even need to say the year. You just know. I remember that morning vividly, the call from Mike at my office (Firehouse.com) saying ‘a small plane just hit the World Trade Center’. Pretty much those exact words. I hustled over to [...]

Save Swingtown: An Experiment in Web & Search Engine Marketing a New Blog

On Saturday afternoon I was catching up on the final two first season episodes of Swingtown, a show on CBS that is pretty good but hasn’t really caught on — in part because of its somewhat scandalous and vivacious premise — but also because of being a summer series that is languishing from one time [...]

The other night I caught the tail end of the Stand Up 2 Cancer show that was running on all the networks. I’d seen the trailers on TV and in a few trailers at the movies lately, so I went to the web to find out some more information.
So I Googled ‘Stand Up 2 Cancer‘ [...]

GOP Strategist: “Hillary Clinton Coming Over Hill with Pitchfork” .. and Other Random Things Overheard on the Amtrak Acela

For the last few months, I’ve been taking the train several times a month between Baltimore to my gig in Connecticut or New York City. And during those trips, mostly on Amtrak’s business Acela service, I’ve always been amazed at the conversations people have on cell phones that are well within earshot of other passengers. [...]

Virgin Fest 2007 Pictures – Baltimore

I missed meeting Richard Branson by about 10 feet, and it was rainy on Sunday, but overall the 2008 Virgin Fest at Pimlico in Baltimore was…well..festive. A lot better than some horses running around the track.

Here are some pics of Amy Winehouse and Regina Spektor I took. Specktor was definitely one of my favorite acts, along with the Beastie Boys and of course the Police (thus leaving no time for pictures for those two.). Amy wasn’t bad, just a bit odd of a stage presence. Check out the cool reflection in the piano on the Regina pix!

Sadly, that driver was driving the fire truck! (Read the Story: Teen Firefighter Killed in Truck Rollover: Driver Charged with DUI)
But have firefighters really [...]

According to Re/Max, I Need to Get a Life!

So earlier today, I got an e-mail from a newspaper chain that I placed a real estate ad on asking me if I was interested in some new advertising opportunities. Not a big deal, really. BUT, the classified rep who sent it mistakingly (presumably) openly CC'd her entire contact list of about 200 people. So [...]
