I enjoyed the 10 minute opener of Saturday Night Live a lot better than I enjoyed the 90 minute debate. Check it out below if you’re not a late night eagle like myself.

On the actual debate itself, what the heck is up with CNN and this ridiculous real-time opinion meter (pictured, right)?

Why the heck do we care what a few dozen undecided in Ohio think during the debate? The thing took up like 20% of the screen.

Can’t we have our own opinion as we watch without having to “think” about what others are thinking at the same time we think what we’re thinking is the right thing to think? Just a thought. I think.

I’m not alone in my hatred of the people meter There’s an interesting blog about here by Ian MacKenzie.

Overall, I just can’t seem to stand CNN more and more lately. The breaking news reporting has always been a pet peeve with me at times when the reporter clearly has no experience doing breaking news and things just get repeated over and over. But all this ‘iReporter’ crap and broadcasting opinions during a news telecast of ‘everyday’ Americans (or should I says ‘Main Streeters’) at times as if that is news is a bit much.

I guess millions of people love the chance to say they were CNN experts and God knows I’m all for user generated content in the right context, but I’m a news purist and prefer news to be reported on by people who know how to speak and know what they are talking about.

Maybe instead of 24 hour needs, we just news every few hours encapsulated in such a way that it actually just gives us the news we want and allows us to spend our free time doing more important things like watching reruns of Seinfeld and Emergency!

What can I say, I’m a Maverick.

In fact, I’ve voted 109 times to the fact that I’m a Maverick. By the way, if John McCain is a Maverick, does that make Sarah Palin Goose? Not sure if that is a good omen or not.

If it turns out the Sarah Palin is into Scientology just like Maverick (Tom Cruise) himself and Joe Biden is actually Goose, I’m just going to go ahead and vote for Tina Fey for President. I tried buying the domain “TinyFeyforPresident.com” but it was already taken. Alas.
